Cincinnati author-illustrator Mark Neeley joins us for Kreate Kaiju. What is kaiju? Direct Japanese translation: strange creatures! The common examples are Godzilla, Gamera, and other giant monsters that you might envision rampaging through cities and crushing skyscrapers. However, there are a ton of others that are colorful, absurd, and a lot of fun; part odd, part cute/cuddly).
The Agenda (10a-1p):
- Brief "Presentation" - Mark will display some kaiju toys & artwork from his collection for inspiration.
- Kreate-your-own-Kaiju - using clay and other materials (the more absurd the better). We'll also kreate our own little cardboard Tokyo and see our creatures in action.
- Souvenir Art - Mark will create a fully rendered, 9x12 ink drawing of your creature just for you - for freeeee!
- Materials provided. Free event. Come have fun, create, and gain a deeper appreciation for these oft-misunderstood monsters.
- While you're here, pick up your signed copy of Mark's latest children's picture book, "Tunnel-Ball", about a mole competing in the Intergalactic Baseball Championship.
